Helpful Tips for Dogs
Collecting a Urine Sample – Male Dog
Use a clean plastic container and collect a mid-stream sample by sliding the container in while your male dog urinates. Refrigerate if you can’t deliver it within an hour.
Collecting a Urine Sample – Female Dog
Gently slide a clean container beneath your female dog as she squats. Aim for a mid-stream sample. Store in the fridge if delayed and bring it to your vet promptly.
Brushing Your Dog’s Teeth
Start brushing slowly using a pet toothbrush and toothpaste. Use calm motions and let your dog get used to the taste and feel. Build trust and consistency for success.
Administering Eye Drops To Your Dog
Wash hands, hold your dog gently, and apply the drops into the corner of the eye without touching the surface. Reward them with praise afterward.
Administering Ear Drops To Your Dog
Warm the drops slightly, hold your dog still, and squeeze the medication into the ear canal. Massage gently and allow your dog to shake out any excess.
Giving Liquid Medication To Your Dog
Mix liquid medicine with a small portion of tasty wet food. If that fails, use a syringe to slowly squirt it into the side of the mouth while calming your dog.
Giving Your Dog a Pill
Hide pills in a treat or soft food. If necessary, gently place it in the back of the mouth and rub the throat to help them swallow. Praise them afterward.
